On the morning of January 9, 2021, at the meeting room 4 of HCMUTE, PhD student Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang successfully defended PhD thesis, majoring in Mechanical Engineer at Faculty level with the topic "Study on behavior of reinforced concrete using steel slag as coarse"


This thesis analyzes and evaluates the properties of steel slag recycled from electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaking factories in Phu My industrial zone, Ba Ria - Vung Tau. Steel slag is used for replacement coarse aggregate in cement concrete. The research content includes:
- Determine the chemical properties, physical and mechanical properties of steel slag materials in Ba Ria-Vung Tau
- Design of steel slag concrete mixes 
- Experimental study on the mechanical behavior of steel slag concrete 
- Experimental study on the behavior of reinforced concrete beams (200x300x3300mm)
- Apply a discrete model to analyze behavior for steel slag concrete
