Mechanics Laboratory serves for training students in mechanical and constructional courses in university. Aside from main function serving students run the experiments, Lab has also associated scientific research and received contract to testing tensile, compress, bending strength of engineering materials and details machine.
Equipments:
1. Hydraulic Universal Testing Machine
The SHT4 series of Servo-Hydraulic Universal Testing Machines provides a wide range of testing capabilities such as performing tension, compression, bending, shear and other tests. The strain rate and stress rate capacity of the machines completely complies with GB, ASTM, DIN, ISO, JIS, BS as well as other standards.
The PowerTestV3. X testing software collects and processes the testing data automatically, and can display real-time data stress-strain curves load-deformation curves and load-time curves among others. Test data can be saved output to other software programs and/or printed in a format to suit your needs.
2. Torsion of Circular and Bending of Beam Model
Experiment 1: Torsion Deflection of a Solid Rod
Experiment 2: The Effect of Rod Length on the Torsional Deflection
Experiment 3: Comparison of Solid Rod and Tube
The Torsion of Circular Sections experiment gives students a visualization and proof of the basic concepts of elastic torsion theory using the general torsion formula. This provide the excellent foundation for further work. The experiments are quick, clear and accurate, and ideal for students working on their own or in groups.
3. Shear force and Bending Moment in a Beam Model
Experiment 1: Bending Moment Variation at the Point of Loading
Experiment 2: Bending Moment Variation away from the Point of Loading
Experiment 3: Shear Force Variation with Increasing Load
Experiment 4: Shear Force Variation for Various Load Conditions
Bending Moment in Beam experiment gives students a visualization and proof of the basic theory of bending moments. This provides a sound foundation for further work. This experiments in Beam is part of a modular range of equipment which teachers the fundamentals of structure. This range is a modern, productive, time-efficient and cost-effective way your students can learn about structures. It’s used to teach structural principles in many branches of mechanical, aeronautical and civil engineering.
In this experiment, students load the beam to the left of the ‘cut’ position. Due to practical reason, the point of loading cannot be ‘cut’ but with this they can confirm the shear force relationship for a simple case. This experiment also helps the student visualize shear force.
4. Inertial Moment Measurement Model
This experiment used to measure inertial moment of roller when it perform plane-paralell motion in inclined plane.
5. Charpy Impact Test machine
Charpy Impact Test is a standardized high strain-rate test which determines the amount of energy absorbed by a material during fracture. This absorbed energy is a measure of a given materials notch toughness and acts as a tool to study temperature-dependent ductile-brittle transition. It is widely applied in industry, since it is easy to prepare and conduct and results can be obtained quickly and cheaply. A disadvantage is that some results are only comparative.
