Traditionally, at the beginning of every new school year, the Faculty of Civil Engineering (FCE), HCMC University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) welcomes new enrolled students. The intake 2020-2021 marks a new milestone to the history of the FCE in particular and HCMUTE in general as we are welcoming to more than 700 new students. This has prompted the Board of Dean and Executive Committee of the Youth Union and Student Association to organize a special and memorable welcome ceremony for new students. Via a series of meeting activities, team building and initiation ceremony; it is confident that many unforgettable and memorable moments deep inside our hearts – both students and organizers.

     In the evening of 19/10/2020, the Freshmen Welcome Gala was held in the Performance Hall of the Building A. The Gala started with a special ceremony in which the Board of Dean and Department’s Heads handed a student card strap over every new student. This activity conveys the meaning of the beginning of learning and training process at a new environment - a very "human" and extremely warm moment that new students can never forget in their surprising first days in a university environment.

    Attending the Gala was Assoc. Prof. Dzung V. Do – President, Assoc. Prof. Thuyen V. Ngo – Chairman of University Council, Assoc. Prof. Kien T. Nguyen – Head of Academic Affair Office, Dr. Thuong T. Tran – Head of Admissions and Student Affairs together with Enterprises’ representatives, Board of Dean, lectures along with more than 700 students. 

    Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dung V. Do - President of HCMC University of Technology and Education delivered some useful advice to students as the respectful father, caring and orienting new students on their first steps on the journey of becoming engineers in the future.

       At the ceremony, the Board of Dean also congratulated and awarded 8 valedictorians who got highest scores at the university entrance exam in 2020, each of them received  a scholarship of 2,000,000 VND sponsored by enterprises and alumni.

        On behalf of the organizers, wish all our new students much success, best of luck on their next adventure. Wish them always maintain their enthusiastic spirits not only in learning but also in participating in social activities organized by the university and the faculty; at the same time, constantly strive to become a student with solid knowledge and skills to contribute to the development of our country.
