I. OBJECTIVES - REQUIREMENTS

1. Objectives:

- In order to implement the plan of the University Union Committee and promote the Union movement within the Faculty of Civil Engineering.

- To equip students with social knowledge for self-improvement and future career .

- To arouse students’ learning interest and create a joyful and rewarding learning environment

- To create an academic playground and opportunities for students to  exchange specialized knowledge between students within the Faculty and those from other institutions.

- Each participating member will spread of knowledge to many other students

- The contest focuses on the application of information technology and the development of science, engineering and construction activities, helping students practice and improve soft skills.

2. Requirements:

- The contest must be practical, effective and must widely engage Union members as well as other students.

- All students in the faculty must participate

- Activities must be economical and highly effective to achieve the objectives listed above

II. CANDIDATE ELIGIBILITY, TIME AND LOCATION

1. Candidate eligibility

- Candidates must be students of Faculty Civil Engineering or Faculty of Transportation Engineering.

- Candidates can be students of either HCMUTE or other institutions in Ho Chi Minh City

2. Time: The program takes place from March 29, 2020 to April 20, 2020.

3. Venue: Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education.

III. ABOUT THE COMPETITION

1. Registration:

- Submit a list of team members for each team entry via the competition official email: tfce2020@gmail.com

- Each team consists of 5 members

- Registration deadline: from March 13th, 2020 to March 23rd, 2020.

2. Competition format:

2.1. First qualification round: "General knowledge"

- Time: 18h ​​on March 27, 2020 (To be confirmed)

- Location: Computer room at Central Building, HCMC University of Technical Education.

* Multiple choice test:

- The members of each team take the multiple-choice test at the computer room which has been arranged by the organizers. These questions are related to the construction industry and some famous construction works in the country and around the world. 15 teams with the highest total score qualify for the next round. The results will be announced on March 28, 2020 (On Fanpage: https://www.facebook.com/TheFutureCivilEngineers/)

- Details for this round’s questions:

+ Part 1: 20 multiple-choice technical questions on the civil engineering topic.

+ Part 2: Multiple-choice questions on the foundation subjects such as “Foundation mechanics” and ”Strength of material”  and questions about 10 notable civil engineering projects around the world

2.2. Second qualification round:  "Creativity" ":

* Building a model:

- The materials to build the required model will be provided by the Organizing Committee . In a period of time specified by the Organizing Committee, the teams will develop the concept for model and its construction method.

- Criteria for evaluation and grading: The aesthetics, scale, structure, intelligence, environment-friendly aspects and the presentation.

→ At the end of the second qualification round, 8 teams with the highest points will move to the semi-finals and vote for one of the 8 most favorite works via fanpage: https://www.facebook.com/TheFutureCivilEngineers/

3. Semifinal round

3.1 Field trip:

- The Faculty of Civil Engineering organizes a field trip for the teams qualified. The goal of this trip is to help students experience the actual working environment on site, learning about construction methods. , techniques, fieldwork, as well as fuel the passion for the profession and self-development orientation.

- Time: 7pm on April 5, 2019 (To be confirmed)

3.2 Teambuilding Challenge: The Amazing Race.

- Time: 13:00 on April 5, 2019 (To be confirmed)

- Location: On campus at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education.

- Organized in the form of challenges that incorporate construction knowledge

-Participating teams will have to decipher multiple hints to find out the locations of stations and complete challenges at that station.

- The team who successfully completes “The amazing race” will receive a reward.

→The results will be based of the total score of "The Amazing Race" (accounting for 35%) and the results of the second round (65%). 4 teams with the highest score will enter the Final round.

4. Final round: "FCE Prize"

- Participating teams will be asked to build 3D models, structural plans for their projects in the second round with specialized computer software in construction and are guided by the teachers in the Faculty.

- Number of teams: 4 teams

* Content:

- Each participating team makes a report to present the project.

- The teams will showcase their projects with posters, leaflets, backgrounds ... (including project images, project structures) in order to promote the competition and exhibit their projects in the final. The judges will go to each exhibition booth of the teams to grade and make inquiries.

- Exam time: 18:00 April 20, 2019. (To be confirmed)

- Venue: Hall A at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education.
